Helen teaches Dynamic Vinyasa Flow Yoga every Thursday 10.15am-11.30am

I first discovered yoga over 20 years ago whilst living in London as a way of distressing whilst gaining flexibility and strength. It wasn’t until much later in my yoga journey I realised that it’s not just about practising postures but an incredible discipline, it guides us in how we treat ourselves and others, to stay calm and focused and present. I discovered the amazing impact my practice had on me, not just physically but mentally. How yoga can change our outlook on daily life, leaving us stronger, happier and more connected to our true selves. I believe what we do on the mat reflects and benefits the rest of our lives and vice versa.

After many years of practicing, and with persuasion from my yoga teacher, I decided to begin yoga teacher training with the Mayura yoga school.  Graduating May 2018, it has been one of the best decisions of my life, completing the course cemented my desire and gave me the confidence to share the benefits and rewards of yoga with others.

My personal practice gave me a love of dynamic vinyasa flow, which is reflected in my classes. Alongside a strong asana practice dedicated to building strength and flexibility, my classes also encourage focus, effort and presence on the mat. I’d like to think my teaching style is fun, friendly and dynamic, with a focus on correct alignment. My intention is to share yoga in an inclusive way, hoping to bring you in to a journey of your own body, with no judgements just complete acceptance of where you are right now.

I encourage students to move mindfully, to focus on their breath and to simply enjoy the magic of yoga on the four corners of the mat, to nourish not punish their body.

I am continually inspired by all the different things you can learn about yourself each time you come to the mat. Despite being a teacher, I believe we are all constantly learning and I continue to expand my knowledge. My teaching reflects inspirations from teachers, my own self practice, readings and research, for which I have an ever expanding appetite. I frequently travel back to London to visit centres like Tri-Yoga, Indaba and Yoga Campus to complete workshops and classes to further my knowledge.
